Well we wrapped up March with service this morning. We had our hours but wanted to keep our routine so out we went. We somehow got left out of the loop that there was no service arrangement today. We needed to go to the hall anyway because we were out of magazines again. We decided to take 10 apiece for today since it is the end of the month. So after a prayer we headed to the central market and looked for Sister Abrams booth. We found her and said hello. We placed a few magazines and then walked over to the old bridge going over the Mahaicony river. Men were fishing and boats were being repaired. I was sorry I didn't bring the camera as we thought today was bible study day. We caught a bus and headed to the territory. We were talking to some very friendly people today. It's so nice not to have to hurry and get your presentation out before the door shuts. We received donations without even asking. I suppose they are familiar with our arrangement. On the last dam we worked a pack of mean dogs came after us. Our bags went down and we tried to stay still. The two neighbors we had just talked to came to our rescue by hurling stones at them. We thanked them and went on to our last two houses because by then we would be out of literature. I had the last set of magazines so took the last house. That's were I met Baby. Baby is a grandmother raising 3 of her grand children. She also raises goats, pigs and cattle. She is a busy woman who looks like she can handle herself and what ever comes her way. She took the magazines, I read some scriptures, we met a couple of her grand kids. We had a nice visit and she asked where I lived. She said maybe she will come to visit. We found out I live next door to her cousin. I found out she studied about a year ago. I don't know why she quit, but she seems to want to study again at my house. I got her phone number and told her I would call on my return from Lethem. It was a nice way to end the morning in service. Until we met a drunk on our way home. He tried to take our joy away a little bit. I actually had to jerk my hand away from him when he tried to get money from me. A young boy rode by on his bike and told us that man needed our prayers as he smiled and rode off.
Now for the memorial. We had a full house. 107 was our attendance. 5 more than last year. A new bible study was there and afterward I asked her if she had any questions. She smiled and said no. Then after a couple of seconds she said yes, but I will ask you on Friday. That's good because I know she was listening. On our way home Reggie asked Dave if we could swing by McDonalds. (No we don't have one) They laughed and said they were always use to going out with friends after the memorial. We said us too. We go to Moms and have cherry dream bars and cheesecake. Then we got on the subject of all the good food we miss. I guess we felt the need to torture ourselves. So they invited us to dinner Friday night. They will be gone before we know it, and sorely missed. I haven't had the camera out to much but I'll try and find something to post. Oh, I'll post a picture of our neighbor. The little girl in the hammock makes a lot of racket, she's always banging pots together or something to drive us crazy. So a rare quiet moment I call it Peace can it last. Then Mama came around the corner and gave us the evil eye, busted. The others are at the memorial and Noel and Amy leaving for theirs.

Sounds like a eventful day and of course Memorial is always a big day .

Hi, it's me, Evie. I just recently got "connected" to your blog through the Garretts, and now I look everyday for the "news"! I love reading your lives there, and even imagine your voice when I am reading. It is so encouraging for us who will not in this system get to see the sights and meet the people you are to share that through your pictures and words. Thankyou for taking the time to share.
ReplyDeleteWhat are the names of the girls you took pictures of at the Kingdom Hall?
ReplyDeleteThe older girls are Naisha and Fredrika. The younger girls are Ashley and ? sorry I forgot.
